Our Team
Diaspora Discovery was born of the unique and diverse experiences of its founders in traveling the world, and living diverse and varied Jewish experiences in the communities we encountered and joined.
It is from these experiences, and the deep and valued connections they made with their extended Jewish family, that they realized the great value in sharing such opportunities and experiences with others.
They have drawn together others across Am Yisrael with similar stories to continue to Build Bridges of Global Judaism.

Board of Directors

Executive Director and Co-Founder
David A. Epstein
Growing up in the Jewish community of the New York City suburbs, David experienced Judaism in a variety of ways. Serendipity would bring David to serve as an English teacher in Buenos Aires, Argentina at a firm with strong ties to the local, orthodox Jewish community where he was warmly welcomed despite being so far from home, family, and friends.
This experience was repeated time and time again during his legal studies in New York City, and later throughout his life as his diplomatic career brought him into contact with the Jewish communities in Miami, Florida; San Salvador, El Salvador; Jerusalem, Israel; Washington, D.C.; Sofia, Bulgaria; and Colorado Springs, Colorado. David even enjoyed unique Jewish experiences in Kabul, Afghanistan where he had the opportunity to meet Zabulon Simantov, the last Jew in Afghanistan.
David provided Mr. Simantov with Passover care packages from generous North American Jewish communities, and he served as a lay leader of the military and the civilian Jewish community for the U.S. Embassy and American military personnel.
Each of these experiences built an ever-larger sense of the global community of Am Yisrael, its welcoming warmth, and its inspiring diversity and resilience, which David is determined to share with the next generation.
